International Reinforcements
The British Battalion were not the only international force at Jarmara. There was also the Dimitrov Battalion comprising of Greeks and people from the Balkans area.
They were named after Georgi Dimitrov, the Bulgarian Communist, who's biggest claim to fame at the time was conducting his own spirited defense when accused by the Nazi Party of setting the fire that engulfed the Reichstag. Dimitrov took the opportunity to cross examine both Goring and Goebbels and generally hold the whole regime up to ridicule.
One of the commanders of the battalion was Josip Tito who was to be become a lot more famous as Marshall Tito, head of state of Yugoslavia. He was not actually active in any of the battles but was a major recruiting force and organizer.
The British Battalion receives two companies of reinforcements on day two and day three of the battle; one each day. I already had two companies of international brigade figures already painted. It was a simple matter of re-basing them so they could stand as the reinforcements from the Dimitrov Battalion.
In the background is one of my bog standard trucks, another Zvezda piece. I long ago stopped buying different types of truck for different game because essentially; a truck is a truck is truck. I made the improvised armor with corrugated cardboard and I cut a a section from the hollow tube of a cotton bud and stick that at the back of the cab. I can then place different flags into the truck using as the flag pole a straighten piece of paperclip. This one is flying the Anarchist flag.
¡No pasarán!
